Unless otherwise noted, prefects maintain their position from 5th to 7th year. The year listed is their graduation year. To claim, list house, position (prefect or head) and graduation year.
For the future, if a character was played for all 3 prefect years as prefect they will remain in the archives as NPC's eternally if they are ever dropped. Site canon will not change because some characters are dropped. This does not ring true for chars that existed on site but never played their prefect years unless staff deems it relevant enough to maintain it.
