AESTHETICS Welcome to the Stepping Stones Home for Bereaved Children, an orphanage catering for all those parentless children of the wizarding world. Tucked away in the small town of Mould-on-the-Wold, it may seem like an ordinary house from the outside, but within you’ll find a labyrinthe of winding corridors, bedrooms and classrooms, playrooms and bathrooms, childrens’ laughter and unconditional love. Teddy Lupin and Victoire Weasley run this home together, and for some of their residents, it’s the only family they’ve ever known. They work very hard to protect the childrens’ happiness and to give them the best possible chances in the lives that lie ahead of them. Though the routes by which their residents have arrived in their home are varied, each one is just as important as every other to them, and we’d love to see some of these children around! All the below are just suggestions; orphans of all shapes and sizes are welcome. NOAH CENTINEO & LANA CONDOR This half-giant couple arrived at the door of Stepping Stones together and in great distress, preparing to hand over their baby to the care of the orphanage. Both without family and needing to complete their education, they couldn’t see any other way forward- until Teddy and Victoire offered them the opportunity to stay, leaving the baby in their care during the school year. ALISSA SKOVBYE Having spent most of her life being shuttled from one orphanage to another after her mother’s combustible temper led to the burning down of her childhood home and the deaths of both her parents, Emilia is a recent arrival at Stepping Stones, and still not entirely sure she wants to be there. MITCHELL HOPE Patrick has been at Stepping Stones ever since it first opened. A Muggleborn wizard, he was shocked to hear of his parents’ deaths whilst away at Hogwarts, and was sent to stay at the orphanage for the following summer. Though he’s yet to deal with his feelings around the tragedy, he’s been determinedly hiding them behind a facade of humour and refusing to deal with them ever since. THUSO MBEDO Daughter of the former Ugandan envoy to the British Ministry before his untimely death, Rehema is only at Stepping Stones until all the paperwork is sorted out to send her home to her aunt- and the fact that this has taken six months so far with no sign of progress anywhere won’t stop her from reminding people at every opportunity. Used to the finer things in life, she has no hesitation about complaining when she doesn’t get her way, and throws tantrums equal to any of the toddlers at the home. Her status as a werewolf, acquired in early childhood, is something she considers very shameful and does her best to keep hidden at all costs. WEREWOLF - 16/17 - BRAT

SOPHIA LILLIS Freshly orphaned, Penelope is the eldest daughter of two liberal pureblooded parents. Despite a plethora of distant relatives offering to take her in, she refused them all, not wanting to conform to their ludicrous standards, and chose instead to go into the care of the Ministry, which led her to the door of Stepping Stones. Still deep in mourning, she’s grateful to all those around her but prone to explosive outbursts at times, not entirely sure how to deal with her feelings. HUMAN - 13-16 - TOMBOY

LORENZO ZURZOLO Having lost both his parents as a result of the werewolf attack which led to his bite, Rafael is a very unhappy soul, though he refuses to show it and instead takes out his problems on everyone around him. Despite having had as many warnings as Teddy and Victoire feel capable of giving through the three years that he’s spent at Stepping Stones, his habits remain unchanged, and they’re having to think very seriously about breaking one of their basic rules and having him transferred elsewhere for the happiness of everyone else. NEELAM GILL Found wandering in Diagon Alley with no clear memory of who she was or even how she got there, ‘Jenny’ was sent to Stepping Stones as a temporary measure until her identity could be confirmed. Two years later and there is still no sign of any breakthrough despite the best efforts of Healers, so that she is instead devoting her energies to trying to build a new life for herself at the home. LOUIS PARTRIDGE A part-Veela making full use of his abilities, Luke was thrown out of a previous home for making a nuisance of himself with the girls, and he’s been doing his best to continue the trend in the months since arriving at Stepping Stones. Unfortunately for him, Victoire is very much on to him, and though she doesn’t object to the kids having relationships if they want to, she definitely does object to the way that he wants to go about it. So charming that he’s difficult to be angry with for long, he is nursing a not-so-secret crush on Emilia. VICTORIA LEIGH A nervous girl and a definite wallflower, Millie is a very recent arrival at the home along with her identical twin sister (and worst enemy), and is dealing very badly with the loss of her family. Suffering with everything from nightmares to bedwetting, losing out on sleep, struggling to stay awake during the day, and alternating between extreme clinginess and a desperate need for solitude, she’s a major concern for both Teddy and Victoire, and they’re making sure to keep a close eye on her. VICTORIA LEIGH Outgoing and confident, a complete contrast to her much-hated identical twin, Amy is a prankster who just loves life and doesn’t seem outwardly to have been affected too much by her family’s death. Of course, this is far from the truth, and she’s struggling a great deal, but keeping a brave face on things and long sessions with her counsellor seem to be making the difference. She’s keeping busy making new friends (and enemies) amongst the children at the home. HUMAN - 11-13 - TROUBLEMAKER
